A Story of Serving The King

Our First Youth meeting was this week on Tuesday. Here are some of the students who came. Trust me, they were more excited about being there then having their picture taken :)

This Bwajay (spelled so you could pronounce it) with two of the girls who came. He is the only boy in the group, but I dont think he minds. These girls are elga and Kasha. I met them on the street and flubed my way through polish and managed to get their phone numbers. I had one of the other youth call them and invite them. They were excited to come. There are no youth programs except sports in this whole town, so its easy for kids to come. There is nothing else for them to do.

Martinia stayed late to teach me how to make Nielishniki. It is alot like a crepe, and tastes really good. Her mom had taught her how and she loved teaching me. She had never had American pancakes so I showed her how to make Buckwheat Pancakes. It was really fun to share our cultures.

Bill, Marti, and I were invited out to tea at the neighbors garden. Theses are little plots of land outside the city where they have grass, real grass! They sometimes have a little house to sleep in and plenty of fruit trees. Alot like a cabin plot. It was really nice. Posted by Picasa

At the Garden, we found some wild life. here is a bee (Stronk) hard at work. Posted by Picasa

Here is Ola eating a doughnut at the beach. It was so hot here that the water was wonderful. The lake is only a short walk from my flat.
The statue is of Capernicus, he is from the town of Torn, just an hour drive from Wloclawek.

This is Ola and her classmate Kasha, we all built a sand castle.
The view above was a neat example of how the city of Torn has mixed the old part of town with the new. It is an old enterance made into a road.
Here I am in the ruins of a castle built for knights who were training to go on the crusades. My first castle! Again we are in Torn, Poland.

Well that is a quick view of my last two months. Remember... How beautiful are the feet that serve. Keep looking to God for your strength to serve, how sturdy his feet are. Posted by Picasa

now hang them on the balcony, and hope the wind doesn't blow them away... Uffda... What! three more loads?! Posted by Picasa

oopps... ring them out again... humm are they clean? Posted by Picasa

Dump out the water into the tub... Fill it with clean water and start over again, this time with out the soap... Posted by Picasa

I quessed that 15 min. was long enough... Now to ring out the soapy water... Posted by Picasa

I put the water, soap and clothes in and I turned the swich... The clothes are just spinning in a circle...Humm.... Posted by Picasa

I decied it was time to wash... Now how to you do this? I think I have everything... Posted by Picasa

This is the way pole's clean their rugs, clean their rugs, clean their rugs... That is right, every household beat their rugs before Christmas and before easter. These rugs from my flat hadn't been beaten since Stallen was a leader. Uffda! Posted by Picasa

This is the living room that will become the youth room. You got to love the funiture and the paint. Posted by Picasa

After living in Bill and Marti's living room for two weeks, God provided a flat for ania and I. this is my room before the painting. Posted by Picasa

Wild poppies grow every where here. They are really pretty... but they don't put you to sleep. The wizard of OZ was wrong! Posted by Picasa

Many intresting things can be found at the open market. Here we bought gooseberries and made a gooseberry pie. It was actually pretty good. Posted by Picasa

I found out that roses, very popular here, still smell just as sweet as back home! Posted by Picasa

Ola (the older one, that name is really popular here) and Carolina helped me see all the sights of Wloclawek. Carolina is very excited to start taking english lessons from a native speaker, and I am really excited to learn Polish from her. Posted by Picasa
